Background of Nomad

Nomad logo

The current owner (and founder) of Nomad started this vegetarian, ecofriendly, fairtrade catering business in 2001. Since starting the business, Nomad has gained an enviable reputation for offering ethical sourced quality food at very reasonable prices.

Unfortunately, ill health forces a reluctant sale of the business.

The recipes have been designed so that the person using them can be trained in less than 15 minutes in cooking the food.

Current Market Position

The reputation that Nomad has has meant that it has catered at prestigious and financially rewarding festivals. Many of the festivals Nomad caters at are “niche” festivals, which appeal to certain dedicated groups and have been going for a number of years.

Currently Nomad caters at the following festivals:
NABD Bikers Rally, Cheshire – Nomad has catered here since 2008
Sunrise, Somerset – Nomad has catered here since 2007
Download, Donnington Park – Nomad has catered here since 2010
Beatherder, Lancs – Nomad has catered here since 2009
Buddhafield, Somerset – Nomad has catered here since 2007
Green Gathering, Chepstow (formerly called Big Green Gathering) – Nomad has catered here since 2003
Beautiful Days, Devon – Nomad has catered here since 2010
Solfest, Cumbria – Nomad has catered here since 2005
NABD Bikers Rally, Oxfordshire – Nomad has catered here since 2009
CAMRA Beer Fest, York – Nomad has catered here since 2009

Potential For Expansion of Nomad

The trailer is in excellent condition (the current owner has spent a good deal of money maintaining and updating it). There are a number of weekends during the summer when the current owner does not cater at any festival. He also gets one or two enquiries a year for outside catering (ie catering at private parties etc), but always turns them down as he does not wish to expand the business in this direction.

The room for expansion is enormous. You could take the trailer out to festivals every weekend during festival season. Nomad has concentrated on biker, green/hippy and music festivals. More of these types of festivals can be catered at. However, there are a wide variety of festivals which have not been explored by Nomad – some of these include storytelling festivals, re-enactment weekends, pagan festivals, vintage car rallies, scooter rallies, horse trials. If you did this, you could work 5 months a year and take the rest of the year off.

Alternatively, you could spend the rest of year catering at private parties, weddings, office parties etc. A website could be set up for advertising that Nomad is available for this type of catering. This website could be optimised so that it comes up highly when “googled” etc.
