Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale

/img/events/cathdonal/cathdonalcakes.jpg Groups across the globe will be involved with the 6th Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale. Participating groups can do whatever they want with the proceeds.

Groups - including ad-hoc groups and non-vegan, non-animal groups - can hold the bake sale(s) anywhere and any time during Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale week starting late April. If you want to participate but cannot do during that specific period, that's ok, too. All goods sold must be vegan.

Not required but we ask please to sign up at http://www.veganbakesale.org/veganbakesale/vbs-signup.html, so we can build our roster of where the bake sales are, and help promote them. You may be able to get your bake sale funded - details at www.veganbakesale.org

Ashleyhay Festival

http://www.new-tzfat.com/images/tibet_flag_small.png Ashleyhay is a community festival for about 700 people at Sycamore Farm, Knob Lane, Ashleyhay, near Alport Height, in the Derbyshire Peak District, starting on the Friday Morning.

As they say in their Food & Drink info: "this is a dead-animal-free festival. Respect your neighbours, don't eat them" and "Veggies awesome food will be here with the best veggie burgers, flap jacks, chocolate brownies and tea in the World (as well as a bunch of other stuff)".

Music, camping , frolicking in the fields of Sycamore Farm and some really good beer. Ashleyhay is run entirely by voluteers. All the musicians perform for nothing. All the helpers do it for free to support charities and campaigns like Greenpeace, ROKPA, and the Mamelodi Trust.

Belper Goes Green Eco Festival

http://www.transitionbelper.org/images/Belpgoesgreen1.jpg The 2013 Belper Goes Green was a huge success - between 1,500 and 3,500 people enjoyed tasty local beer, food and entertainment, visited the stalls, joined the workshops, tried the electric bikes, swapped clothes and books, were inspired by creative upcycling ideas and gave their opinions on transport, energy, food, the future and what to do with the Meadows Edge area.

The event will again be help at Belper Rugby Club, Struuts Playing Field, Belper, Derbyshire, with the addition of Food by Veggies! alongside other stallholders that demonstrates a commitment to sustainability - local food, grow your own, recycling, reducing energy use, promoting conservation, natural health and wellbeing etc.

McLibel: Anniversary Day of Action

/img/arc/mcdemolondon061001.jpg McLibel: Anniversary of 1997 High Court Victory!

The High Court ruled that McDonald's marketing has "pretended to a positive nutritional benefit which their food did not match"; that they "exploit children"; are "culpably responsible for animal cruelty" and "pay low wages".

The Appeal court added that it was fair comment that their employees worldwide "do badly in terms of pay and conditions", and true that "if one eats enough McDonald's food" this may well lead to "the very real risk of heart disease."

Brinsley Animal Rescue Open Day

/img/arc/brinsleypigs.jpg Join us raising funds for animal rescue work and the animal hospital at Brinsley Animal Rescue, a not for profit organisation, run by volunteers on vegan values, dedicated to the caring of pets, wild animals and farm animals.

Our primary mission is to relieve the suffering of animals and birds. Many of the animals that come to us are simply ’surplus to requirements’ from the meat, dairy and egg industry. Because such animals are deemed unprofitable then it is our aim to take them on and find them loving homes in which they can enjoy the retirement they deserve.

As well as stalls, talks and games, there is vegan beer, vegan ice cream and food by Veggies so come over, chill out and meet the animals. Find out about regular work days with Nottingham Animal Rights.

Earth First Summer Gathering

The Earth First! Summer Gathering is the place where people involved in radical ecological direct action - or those who want to be involved - get together for five days of time and space to talk, walk, share skills, learn, play, rant, find out what's going on, find out what's next, live outside, strategise, hang out, incite, laugh and conspire.

The workshops, networking and planning of actions at this low impact eco-living camp is organised non-hierarchically. It's run without leaders by everyone who comes along, so come prepared to chip in!
