A mere seven years after the McLibel Trial finally concluded, defendants Helen Steel and Dave Morris have recently won a hearing at the European Court of Human Rights . (details here) This is the inside story of the postman and the gardener who took on McDonalds in England's longest ever court case. Shot over three years by a voluntary crew including Ken Loach (who directed the courtroom reconstructions), the documentary hit the headlines after it was pulled by lawyers at both the BBC and Channel 4 in the UK. Now for the first time see what happened next with Helen and Dave as they travel to Strasbourg for their historic appearance at the European Courts of Human Rights. They argued that the whole trial was unjust as there was no jury and no legal aid. Since the original verdict in 1997, they've also won further points in the Appeal and sued the Metropolitan Police for releasing information to McDonalds. This new updated docufilm will reveal all.
