End of the Petition to the European Parliament for the Protection of Turtles.This is an online event. At that time, everyone who has subscribed the "NoTurtle" mailing list will be asked to send to the "NoTurtle" Post Box the signatures they have collected for the "Petition to the European Parliament for the Protection of Turtles." The NoTurtle staff will hand the signatures over to the European Parliament.
This petition asks for the prohibition on the importation of all the species of freshwater turtles to the European Union. Most of the turtles who survive the terrible shipping are abandoned in the wild, after their first years of life. From that moment on, they pose a serious threat to European species, such as the Emys orbicularis and the Mauremys leprosa turtles, which are disappearing very fast.
