Tue 21st Feb
National Badger Cull Protest
Starts 8:00

The National Farmers Union Conference is a collection of individuals and corporations most responsible for pushing the proposed Badger Cull through Parliament. They are a lobbyist group for large agricultural corporations with aims that benefit them, rather than that of animal welfare and independent farmers. They have strong political ties and are the No.1 driving force behind the badger cull.

The opening session at their upcoming conference at the the ICC, Broad Street, Birmingham, B1 2HG (with Caroline Spelman") as the guest speaker) is called 'The Political Challenge' and will in most part be a discussion about the badger cull. We urge as many animal lovers to join us outside the ICC for a huge protest to show Caroline Spelman and the NFU that we WILL NOT ALLOW THE BADGER CULL!!!.

Wed 22nd Feb
Community Circle
18:45 to 21:15

It's so simple. We meet once a month, share some food, talk to each other. Then we form a circle and introduce ourselves with an emphasis on being positive together. People are invited to think about what they need and what they might have to offer. All kinds of things have been asked for: baby clothes, help with finding a tradesperson, advice on sorting out benefits, someone to talk to, help cleaning out a shed etc. The need is spoken with no expectation of it being fulfilled. People in the circle respond if they feel it. Then people go around again and make offers, something they would like to share with no expectation of it being accepted. Again, a wide range of things have been offered: guitar lessons, help with getting funding, carwashing etc, etc. All the requests and connections are beautifully drawn up onto a big sheet of paper. Afterwards, people check in with those who responded to the gifts/needs/wishes to make arrangements! (Bring your diaries!)

Join us at the Sumac Centre from 6.45pm for social chat & free buffet, followed by the Community Circle at 7.30pm. Also March 21st.

Fri 2nd Mar to Sunday 4th Mar
Animal Rights Activist Weekend
Starts 17:00

It is proposed to hold an "Activist Weekend" in Bristol early in March 2012. There is likely to a day of action on the Saturday with demos /hunt sabs /stalls as an opportunity for people to share practical skills and experiences on the streets (and in the fields). This will be followed by an evening social, as an antidote to activist burn out and on the Sunday we will have a national network meeting. Other workshops/meetings/events may be held if time allows - to be decided at the next planning meeting, on Sunday 8th January, in Bristol.

The Animal Rights Coalition is an informal network which exists to promote cooperation and to spread information between the various groups and individuals working throughout the UK to stop animal abuse.
