Loud and Proud in Huntingdon
As the march set off the noise was deafening with drums banging, whistles blowing, dozens of megaphones on the go, flags waving and people chanting. Huntingdon was brought to a standstill as activists marched round the ring road and into the High Street. People were leafleted and many joined in with the demo whilst others commented that they are disgusted to have HLS on their doorstep. Sick and tired of the local ‘justice’ system some protesters decided to climb on the roof of the Magistrates Court and drop a banner from the building reading ‘No Justice Just Us SMASH HLS’ as the march passed and stopped for speakers. Campaigners from animals rights groups up and down the country spoke of the weakness of HLS and need to double our efforts locally to finish them off, the fact that there is something we can all do against anybody connected to HLS – be it sending emails and letters or doing demos and home visits. Above all they spoke of the need not to fear of getting arrested or jailed and if we do to walk out of that police station with our heads high proud that we are part of the struggle for animal liberation. The march carried on back to the meeting point as 200 people broke free and went rampaging down the road to do home visits. Activists arrived outside the home of Russel Scrivener at 19 East Street and surrounded it chanting for him to get outside and answer us - the police arrived in force so it was down the road to the next workers house. It is alleged that windows were smashed, the garage door was pulled off its hinges, the car was damaged and garden ornaments were destroyed as campaigners outraged at the existence of HLS took it out on one of their evil employees. Yet more congestion as people made a dash for one of the main roads and blocked it off by holding an impromptu march before arriving back at the meeting point and making their way to the lab.
An amazing demo that gave HLS and their workers a real kick in the pants and a reminder that this is the year we will cost them so much money and cause them so much disruption that they will fall to pieces and disappear. Keep up the pressure until the next one – the animals need you. |
