Freelance German to English translator

Buying translation can be stressful and intimidating...

You require an accurate translation of your German text into perfect English, without having to worry about the quality, recruitment of translators or proofreading.

You want a simple, comprehensive service from a language services provider who understands your needs.

Some clients opt to use an agency rather than select their own professional translator and proofreader; this is based on an assumption that agencies will offer an assurance of higher quality or faster turnaround. Whilst there are some high-class (albeit expensive) translation agencies out there, sadly the quality produced by a lot of agencies can lead to much greater costs to your finances and reputation in the long term.

Whilst there are some high class (albeit expensive) translation agencies out there, sadly the quality produced by a lot of agencies can have much greater costs to your finances and reputation in the long term.

Businesses in Nottingham, the East Midlands, the UK, Germany, Europe and across the world work with me on a regular basis to save themselves time, stress and money. They are assured by my proven expertise in my carefully chosen specialisms (IT, technology, business and finance, including contracts and CVs).

Benefits of working with me

Reliability
You will always know who is translating your text. It will not suddenly be sent to a different translator, nor will delays or errors be blamed on a one-off poor choice of translator.

Consistency Always choosing the same translator means all your projects will have a uniform, consistent style and terminology. Each text will accurately reflect the author's voice in the same way for a consistent brand image. A glossary can be provided for your personal reference.

Confidentiality When you decide to work with one dedicated freelance translator you can be sure exactly where your texts are and who has access to them. Your texts will not be sent out to a number (even an entire list!) of freelance translators before the fastest (but perhaps not the most suitable) responds and is selected to work on your text. I have even received legal documents from agencies that I have never even worked for, and so never signed any Non-Disclosure Agreement. If your document is at all sensitive, you are probably best off working with individual freelance translators and proofreaders whom you can rely on to treat your document with the respect it deserves.

Comprehensive service You may think this is where agencies hold the upper hand. If so, consider that agencies hire project managers and often outsource work out to freelancers about whom they may know very little.

Reduced editing costs Choosing one high-quality translator in the first place offers many advantages, especially in the case of larger projects. In an effort to achieve tight deadlines, agencies will often split up a job between multiple translators. This will result in inconsistent terminology and increased editing costs involved in the proofreading and correction of the problems that result. Even where a job is not split, choosing a single high-quality freelance translator reduces the risk of expensive post-editing or even re-translation when things go wrong.

Fewer commercial and legal risks Errors that go unnoticed can also have disastrous commercial and legal consequences - whilst some consequences may even be life-threatening! Safeguard your brand image and represent your products accurately by hiring a skilled freelance translator.

Greater return on investment The quality of your translation can either make or break your project. Choose an excellent translator who fully understands your business and target audience, and your readers will be interested, your clients will be satisfied, and your products will sell.

Great value Most of the best translators avoid the low-paying majority of translation agencies. To get work of this quality through an agency, you have to pay the agency's cut, too. Why work with an agency when you can get what you pay for from a freelance translator and proofreader - without the same level of expensive overheads to cover.

Need a proofreader, too?
I regularly undertake proofreading and translation quality assessments. For my own work, I also have a regular proofreader, Alex Ward. Alex takes a final look at the translation and source text to ensure my high standards are maintained. This is included in any full-service translation quote. If the text is "for information" or "for internal publication only", this may not be necessary.

English to German?
I regularly work with two skilled English to German translators and proofreaders. Emine Türkmen is a graduate translator and IT specialist, whilst Michael Söchtig is a practising international lawyer.
