A Transition Initiative is a community-led response to the pressures of climate change, fossil fuel depletion and increasingly, economic contraction.
There are hundreds of Transition Initiatives around the world setting up local food projects, locally owned energy companies, local currencies, garden share schemes, home retrofitting projects, car clubs and re-skilling workshops.
They are acting from the understanding that in the face of these challenges:
* if we wait for the governments, it'll be too little, too late
* if we act as individuals, it'll be too little
* but if we act as communities, it might just be enough, just in time.
