24th November 2009 10:30 |
Animal Remembrance Day is the first event to be launched by the newly-formed Birmingham Action For Animals. It is a day on which we will remember the non-human lives lost in conflicts since World War I, the lives still being lost in conflicts today, and those non-human lives taken inside warfare laboratories every day since the dawn of war itself. Animal Remembrance Day is a day to respect, honour, and remember the lives long forgotten by the military. November 24 has been chosen as the day of this event as it is 5 years to the day of the unveiling of the Animal War Memorial in London. Please leave any megaphones and banners at home and bring with you instead any tributes, flowers, purple poppies, wreathes, poems etc. Animal Remembrance Day is to be held in Centenary Square, Birmingham, UK on 24 November. It would be appreciated if you could arrive at the Square for 10:30am so that all of the details of this event can be explained to you fully. The event is scheduled to last for approximately 1 hour, with a 2 minute silence at 11am. | |
