23rd March 2013

[PrintView] 2013 will be a two-part party:

- a big gig at the Polish Eagle Club, Sherwood Rise, Nottingham
- an after-party until sunrise at a secret location, to be announced on the night.

We are a loose collection of people coming out of the underground music and activist scenes in Nottingham to resurrect the spirit of the original Shakedown Party in 2005, a mega DIY, underground party that served as a fundraiser for the anti-G8 mobilisation in Scotland and other grassroots projects. See Veggies report.

From Nottingham and around the country Shakedown will bring together the best soundsystems, party collectives, performers, visual artists and community groups for a big DIY all night party.

Shakedown is raising funds and awareness for:

- A week of action and information against the G8
- Nottingham Refugee Forum Destitution Fund
- Autonomous community projects in Nottingham

All the organisers, crew & artists are doing it for free!

Harlem Shakedown

Harlem Shakedown is part of the global Harlem Shake Meme.

On February 10, the upload rate of Harlem Shake videos reached 4,000 per day. As of February 11, about 12,000 versions of the popular Internet meme had been uploaded to YouTube, garnering over 44 million unique views. By February 15, about 40,000 Harlem Shake videos had been uploaded, totalling 175 million views.

They've got stiff competition, but lets see if the ShakeDown Shake can make its mark in this maelstrom, having passed the 1000 mark in its first 10 days. To help it to the 4,375 average views Click to view it on Youtube.
