We look forward your celebrating with us on Saturday 7th March 2015 and checking out the yummy catering on our stall!

The event is organised by the IWD Derby Committee: "We are an independent non-profit group of volunteers and we plan Derby's annual festival to mark International Women's Day locally. We also organise other events to raise funds and support the aims of IWD."

The International Women's Day (IWD) Festival Derby is an annual event organised by a non-profit group of volunteers; the event brings together local public services, charities, support groups, national campaigns and inspiring role models to celebrate, inspire, reach out, raise awareness and make a difference.

Observed across the globe, IWD is a chance to celebrate achievements, raise awareness of the issues affecting women and girls and inspire people to take action to create a brighter, safer, healthier and fairer future. It is also a day to remember, celebrate and thank women and girls past, present and future.

The festival hosts a variety of stalls; stallholders at our last event reached over 700 visitors to the IWD festival. Stallholders say that they benefit from being part of the IWD festival by raising awareness, networking with other organisations, engaging the public, fundraising, recruiting staff or volunteers and being associated with a positive event, showing a commitment to gender equality.

As well as the stalls at the festival, there will be celebrations with stereotype-busting performers, workshops, exhibits, activity tasters, family fun and a creche, plus a festival magazine. There will be outdoor stalls and activities on the Market Place as well as some indoor workshops in Cathedral Quarter venues.

The event is free to enter for all the community, including male supporters, to help everyone in Derby & Derbyshire to celebrate and renew efforts towards gender equality.

We also support our nominated charity, Vegfam, Feeding the hungry without exploiting animals. If you can help us with either of these projects at this event, whilst we are busy with Veggies catering, please email pat@veggies.org.uk.
