https://network23.org/stopg8/files/2012/09/cropped-stopg81.jpgIn 2013 the UK is once again host to the G8 Summit for the first time since 2005, eight world leaders from the most powerful capitalist nations are meeting here on our home turf.

The G8 facilitates irresponsible greed, corporate protectionism, overwhelming inequality and ruthless exploitation. It is here, at the G8 summit, that the economic, political and military objectives for the year ahead will be discussed and agreed. The G8 summit allows these self-appointed leaders of capitalism to assert their control of natural resources, no matter what the cost to people and the environment.

A UK-wide planning gathering has been held in Nottingham for people who want to contribute to the mobilisation against the G8. Further planning meetings continue

stop g8 flierstop g8 flierStop G8 believes that there is an urgent need to take action against the G8. Our fight against austerity, inequality and exploitation must be fought on all fronts but the resistance must start here, at the top, where the big decisions are taken and the key allegiances are formed. They must not be permitted to meet here unimpeded, and must be made to understand that wherever they meet, wherever they go, they will be opposed and resisted.

WE ARE MANY, THEY ARE FEW. AND WE ARE EVERYWHERE.

This group was formed to stop G8 in 2013. We’ve adopted in principle the PGA hallmarks:

1. A very clear rejection of capitalism, imperialism and feudalism, all trade agreements, instiituitions and goverments that promote destructive globalisation.

2. We reject all forms and systems of domination and discrimination including, but not limited to, patriachy, racism and religous fundamentalism of all creeds.

We embrace the full dignity of human beings.

3. A confrontational attitude, since we do not think that lobbying can have a major impact in such biased and undemocratic organizations, in which transnational capital is the only real policy maker.

4. A call to direct action and civil disobedience, support for social movements struggles, advocating forms of resistance which maximize respect for life and oppressed peoples rights, as well as the construction of local alternatives to global capitalism.

5. An organisational philosophy based on decentralisation and autonomy,

WE RESPECT A DIVERSITY OF TACTICS.

We also support our nominated charity, Vegfam, ‘Feeding the hungry without exploiting animals’. If you can help us with either of these projects at this event, whilst we are busy with Veggies catering, please email pat@veggies.org.uk.
