'Going, Being and Staying Vegan'. Q & A's with experienced vegan campaigner, chef and some-time VeggiesVolunteer, Ronny, author of the 'Scoffer' cookbooks. Tips for easy vegan cooking, shopping and living.
- 1pm : Mary Lea, Vegan Buddies
'Vegan Buddies' provides a forum for new vegans to discuss with existing vegans any teething problems they are having. This is an extension of our vegan buddies scheme where vegans and those thinking about going vegan can find a vegan family willing to help on a one to one basis.
- 2pm : Dr Stephen Walsh, nutrition spokesperson for the Vegan Society.
'Good Health without animal products'. Dr Walsh, PhD (author of the book "Plant Based Nutrition and Health"), will be talking about attaining and maintaining health through a vegan diet.
- 3pm : Dave and Pat, Nottm Vegans!
'A Vegan Guide To Nottingham'. Through the hard work of several generations of vegetarian and vegan campaigners, Nottingham is a mecca for vegans. Find out about the best places to eat and shop, and share your Vegan Nottingham tips.
 The second (2005) East Midlands Vegan Festival, co-sponsored by 'House of Life' at The Council House, Old Market Square, Nottingham was a great success, with a reported 2,100 people through the doors. All these events are sponsored by Veggies Catering Campaign, who will also be catering at, and providing transport to, these events.
 Vegan Campaigns promotes veganism, mainly in the London area, with vegan food fairs, information evenings, veggie burger giveaways and street stalls.
Your help is invited
It is the interests of all vegetarians and vegans to encourage more people to join them.
This will - increase the availability of veggie & vegan food in shops.
- encourage more caterers to provide excellent choices on their menus.
- make the provision of other veggie goods and services more viable.
- create business opportunities for fellow veggies and vegans.
- further all the positive benefits of choosing a healthy and ethical diet.
All of this will make it easier for you to be vegetarian or vegan yourself.
Whatever your reason for being a vegetarian or vegan, wouldn't you like others to share your ideas?
Then the East Midland Vegan Festival is for you.
Not (only) as an opportunity to consume, but as a chance to share - share your knowledge, your energies and your commitment to your diet of choice by giving practical support to the event.
If every vegetarian and vegan in the East Midlands were to spare an hour before and/or during the event, imagine how many more people could be reached.
Contact the organisers to offer to
- help co-ordinate people offering the following support:
- distribute fliers and/or posters at work, school, college or around your neighbourhood.
- promote the event to any social group, email list etc that you are part of
- put a link to this page on your website
- help with contact with the media
- assist with the administration of stall applications etc
- Co-ordinate the production of a program, selling advertising, getting copy, pictures , stalls list
- help arrange speakers, film presentations etc
- prepare food to share, with recipe advice
- bring at least one non-veggie friend, colleague or family member and give them a guided tour of the festival.
- help co-ordinate volunteers offering the following help:
- pledge an hour on the day.
You could
- help set up the venue in advance, from 9am
- help arriving stall holders to find their pitch and set up
- distribute fliers in the square
- welcome people and give directions in the venue, from 11am
- sell raffle tickets & collect mailing list details
- co-ordinate free food / tea&coffee area
- workshop co-ordination - welcomes, seats, clearing environment

MC - announcing workshops and a rolling summary of stallholders
- hospitality - tea and coffee to stall-holders.
- assist Vegan Buddies whilst they do workshop
- act as a 'buddy' to someone considering a change of diet
