Many people made a whole weekend of it with other events at the all-vegan Sumac Centre:

• Small World Kitchen - Friday 7th: Traditional African Vegan Food was provided by the Women's Group of the Nottingham & Notts Refugee Forum.
  
• Vegan Party Night - Saturday 8th: People's Kitchen Meal and party.
  
• A Winter Wonderland - Sunday 9th: Sumac Craft Fair with Children's Entertainment & Workshops, followed by Open Mic & DJ's featuring Wholesome Fish

  'Going, Being and Staying Vegan'. Q & A's with experienced vegan campaigner, chef and some-time VeggiesVolunteer, Ronny, author of the 'Scoffer' cookbooks. Tips for easy vegan cooking, shopping and living.
  
  
• 1pm : Mary Lea, Vegan Buddies
  
  'Vegan Buddies' provides a forum for new vegans to discuss with existing vegans any teething problems they are having. This is an extension of our vegan buddies scheme where vegans and those thinking about going vegan can find a vegan family willing to help on a one to one basis.
  
  
• 2pm : Dr Stephen Walsh, nutrition spokesperson for the Vegan Society.
  
  'Good Health without animal products'. Dr Walsh, PhD (author of the book "Plant Based Nutrition and Health"), will be talking about attaining and maintaining health through a vegan diet.
  
  
• 3pm : Dave and Pat, Nottm Vegans!
  
  'A Vegan Guide To Nottingham'. Through the hard work of several generations of vegetarian and vegan campaigners, Nottingham is a mecca for vegans. Find out about the best places to eat and shop, and share your Vegan Nottingham tips.

For many in the peace movement veganism is a central part of their pacifist stance and hence many peace projects have a vegan outlook. Local campaigns have included support for Nottingham Faslane 365, a peaceful blockade of the Trident base at Faslane, Scotland, calling for the disarmament of Britain's nuclear weapons, an event at which all-vegan catering was provided by Veggies Catering Campaign!.
