|
|
27th April 2013 starts |
The official start of the rally is 12noon, in Oxpens Park, next to Oxpens Ice Rink. There will be information stalls and vegan food for sale by Veggies and at least one other vegan caterer. Speeches will start about 12.30 and we expect to set off on the march around the centre of Oxford at around 1.30. There will also be a short rally with speeches when the march reaches the Oxford University animal laboratories on South Parks Rd. You can download and print the map of the meeting place and the route of the march. If you are able to bring your own anti-vivisection protest materials, e.g. banners, placards, leaflets, posters, drums, megaphones, whistles, please do so. We will be marching through some of the busiest places in Oxford, so we should really be able to get our message across to the public. Speakers at the Rally and at the Labs Dr Adrian Stallwood, is a practising emergency physician and lecturer at Cardiff University, and Scientific Advisor to Animal Aid. Dr Victoria Martindale was trained in human medicine, and also specialises in studying primates, so has a unique insight into both the scientific and moral arguments against vivisection. Dr Matthew Simpson is an Oxford graduate and a founder-member of Voice for Ethical Research at Oxford, which campaigns within the University for animal-free medical research. Long time campaigner for animals John Curtin will also speak at the rally, as well as reprentatives from grass roots anti-vivisection campaigns such as Stop Wickham Animal Testing, and SPEAK, which campaigns against experiments at Oxford University.
