http://hsa.enviroweb.org/images/hsa/legend/hsaleg1.pngAnimal rights groups oppose the flouting of "loopholes" in the law that results in hunts continuing to kill. It is for this reason that wildlife protection group, including the hunt saboteurs, need to monitor the situation and to intervene to save lives where necessary.

"Over 40,000 hunters pledged to break the ban on hunting. Almost 5 years after the ban it’s no surprise that hunts continue to openly flout the law of the land." HSA News Release

"Hunting enthusiasts will be out in force on Boxing Day — almost two years after a ban on the sport". They are "actively campaigning to have the law repealed" despite the huge support for the ban by the public, and its failure to have lead to the collapse of the rural economy. "Your recent article 'Boxing Day meet for hunt' acknowledges that hunts may use "loopholes" to continue killing. This is why animal rights groups, including hunt saboteurs, need to monitor their activities and intervene if necessary to save lives, upholding the spirit of a law supported by the majority of people and passed overwhelmingly by the elected House of Commons.

I sense some bias in your claim that Veggies "threaten" to attend hunts. We simply point out that hunts continue to operate, and provide contact details for groups that campaign to protect hunted animals.

It is a shame that the Countryside Alliance does not dedicate itself to tackling issues of genuine threat to the rural economy, which has not collapsed following the passing of the Act, but which faces challenges from unfair trading practices from supermarkets, the withdrawal of services including public transport and Post Offices, the encroachment of commuter housing and so on.

btw. If your reporter had used any traditional means to contact us, eg letter, phone call or email, I am sure that we could have provided comment for your article. We have no record of any contact by any of these methods!"
