Help us at the Eco-Fest on 8 and 9 September, from 11:am to 5pm on both days. This is regional event being held at Markeaton Park. Bring any literature from (e.g. from environmental groups outside Derby). We need people to help volunteer on our stall. Let us know when you can come and we will fit you into our rota. Just volunteer for one hour, or more if you can. Email contact@derbyclimatechange.net or call 0787 659 5993

Note that the theme at this year’s eco-fest is climate change, so even if you can’t help at the stall drop in on the festival and come and talk to us.

Veggies Climate Change Campaigns

To get to this event Veggies will emit 54kg CO2 (total distance: 90 miles over 2 days - route).

However by helping an estimated 500 people Eat Vegan we will “offset” 1000 kg CO2

If ONE customer goes Vegan For Life, they will save 1.5 tonnes CO2 every year, as well as saving 4022 animals lives, and enabling all the world’s peoples to receive a Fair Share of the world’s resources.

Estimate statistics:
  • Diesel fuel: 2.68kg CO2/litre; 4-5mls/ltr (50-70k/100ml)(LILO Handbook)
  • Cooking gas: Butane: 1.74kg CO2/kg; Propane:1.95kg CO2/kg (as above)
  • 1.5 tonnes CO2 saved annually by a vegan diet (4kg/person/day) (New Scientist);
  • Livestock industry produces 100 million tonnes methane each year (FAO, as below)
  • Methane is 23 times more harmful to the climate than C02 (United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization).
  • Could meat be murder for the environment (RSSL's Food e-News quoting New Scientist).
HOW ARE WE DOING?

If we have helped change your diet please let us know - email info@veggies.org.uk
