Please would you consider the plight of fur bearing animals. Never have so many been so horrifically brutalised and killed for their coats as in recent years. It is long past the time where we human beings need the fur and skin of animals in order to keep warm. Have we really evolved? Do we consider our vanity before we would consider their pain?
The trouble with shops selling fur materials, trinkets, fur trims, fur scarves, fur coats, fur jackets, fur hats, fur everything and anything, is the fact that fur was a LIVING creature. It is beyond belief that so called members of civilised society can acknowledge this truth - and still wear fur, effectively ignoring the suffering of animals within this death-dependent market.
You can easily find film footage, images, songs, poems, letters, forum links, blog posts, reams of literary information current and factual, regarding the treatment of animals caught up in the fur trade.

Prevent Unwanted Pets 'PUP' was founded in December 1986 because of the founder members concern about the appalling suffering of unwanted animals. The charity uses its funds to help people on a low income (eg Income Support or Family Credit) towards the cost of having their dogs and cats spayed or neutered. PUP is run entirely by volunteers and receives no government aid.
'PUP' provides help towards the cost of doctoring pets for people on a low income and thereby prevents the suffering of unwanted animals. Details from Prevent
Unwanted Pets : 0115 923 4555.
For PUP recommendations to avoid vested interests allowing licensing of bad breeders

Derby and Nottingham Hunt Saboteurs (hunt sabs) are a group of like-minded people who regularly take direct action against all forms of bloodsports. Hunting enthusiasts are actively campaigning to have the hunt ban repealed despite the huge support for the ban by the public, and its failure to have lead to the collapse of the rural economy.
Animal rights groups oppose the flouting of "loopholes" in the law that results in hunts continuing to kill. It is for this reason that wildlife protection group, including the hunt saboteurs, need to monitor the situation and to intervene to save lives where neccessary.
Our tactics cause no harm to hounds, horses, people or any animals at all. Hunters and
their supporters have made serious efforts to discredit and slander us because we are so
effective and stop their sick idea of fun. This does not come as any surprise
people who torment animals for fun are bound to be bullies and thugs. Aggression from
these people has never deterred us or hampered our success.

Oxford University is engaged in the construction of what it claims is a 'state of the art' animal housing facility. This facility is far from just an animal house - it has been termed a research 'hotel' in the planning application.
This hell hole will be responsible for some of the most horrific animal experiments ever carried out in this country, including brain research on monkeys.

prevent new vivisection on primates. Peaceful vigils are needed at the
proposed labs location.

Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty was set up in 1999 with the sole aim of closing HLS down. SHAC campaigns for the closure of HLS using evidence obtained in five undercover investigations at their different laboratories in the UK and USA.
HLS workers have been caught on film punching puppies in the face, simulating sex with animals in their care, cutting open primates while they are still alive and falsifying experiments to get products on the market. We can also prove that HLS workers have been caught drunk at work and dealing drugs at the labs.
Huntingdon Life Sciences have a criminal record from a British court of law for breaking the Companies' Act. They are the only UK laboratory to ever have their licence revoked by the government.

The Japanese Water Gardens, just outside Nottingham, supports Circus Cruelty.
Due to the inherent captivity and cruelty, animal circuses are banned from council land in Nottingham and Broxtowe. However, the owners of the Japanese Water Gardens still make them welcome.
