"We are sad to announce that Kathleen Jannaway, co-founder of Movement for Compassionate Living, author of the inspiring book 'Abundant Living in the Coming Age of the Tree', early vegan pioneer and former secretary of the Vegan Society (UK), passed away peacefully in her sleep early on 27 January 2003, in her local cottage hospital."
Memorial meeting at 2.30pm on 17th May at Friends Meeting House, Dorking.
Kathleen Jannaway was a keen supporter of the work of Veggies and the Sumac Centre, giving much encouragement and financial support.
The message of Movement for Compassionate Living, which she guided for as long as she was physically able, is very close to that of the Sumac Centre, promoting simple living and self-reliance as a remedy against the exploitation of humans, animals and the Earth, in particular with the local production of vegan-organic foods.
Members are Veggies are proud to have known Kathleen personally, and have drawn inspiration from her writings. We will be honoured to continue to her work, through the distribution of MCL publications and running MCL information stalls at many of the events that we attend.
You are urged to find out more about her vital message at the website http://www.mclveganway.org.uk or read more of her publications, all of which are available from Veggies and the Sumac Centre.
