The Party Pics!

Yes the whole weekend was one of those typically crazy Veggies missions!

The Benjamin Zephaniah gig (co-incidentally organised by others as a fundraiser for Africa & Asia) was early on the Friday evening, after a McDonalds demo and Free Food Give-away, and before a disco/party at Sumac.

Sadly we didn't get to the Fur Rally in London the next day but campaigners against Nottingham arms traders Heckler and Koch took food to a new arms trade campaign Target Brimar in Manchester.

In Nottingham we did what we do to support the Great Climate Swoop on Radcliffe on Soar power station.

Then everyone got safely back to Sumac ASAP for the main event, partying through the night!

Breakfast the next (Sunday) morning was planned to be at Brinsley Animal Rescue, a chance to chill out and help with the animals. Needless to say we didn't get till later in the afternoon - after feeding climate campers again at Sumac and putting in a last minute circus demo! Thanks Beth for looking after us at Brinsley.

phew!

As you can imagine, much awesome help was welcomed, from catering to performing at the party, from running around Radcliffe to offering space for guests to sleep (briefly!).

Vegan caterers celebrate 25 years

Friday, December 12, 2008

A VEGAN catering venture based in Nottingham is coming up to 25 years of being in business.

Veggies, which caters at festivals and events across the country, was today holding the fifth East Midlands Vegan Festival, at the Council House from 11am to 5pm.

The event promotes vegan companies, products and charities from around the East Midlands, and has been sponsored by The Vegan Society as well as Veggies.

Patrick Smith of Veggies said they had come a long way in 25 years.

"Back then vegan caterers and businesses were few and far between but now the list of vegan companies in the UK is endless," he said,

The festival will include vegan food sampling, cookery demonstrations, talks, cosmetics, toiletries, ready meals, cakes and other vegan foods that most would consider impossible – including 'fish' and chips, vegan cream eggs and vegan marshmallows.
