Veggies Catering Campaign aim to balance our preference for fresh, locally produced foods, supporting local suppliers and reducing 'food miles', with encouraging the demand for organic foods. We do not therefore claim to use only organic ingredients and our entire operation is not certified as organic, (also due to the disproportionate costs of the registration fees for a small business such as our). However we aspire to the practical guidelines of the Wholesome Food Association.
We campaign directly against the genetic mutation of foods and the globalisation of supply.
Veggies Burgers and Sosages are made from our own fully organic mixes, using organic soy produced by small and medium sized farmers in the southwest of Paraná-state in Brazil.
We bake our own cakes in-house using organic flours locally stoneground, 3 miles away at Green's Mill in Sneinton, including spelt flour from an ancient variety of wheat; or sourced elsewhere in the UK by our wholesaler, Lembas. Independent and local, (about a 2.5 miles from our Nottingham base), the Watermill Bakery bake our bread, sometimes using organic flour for larger events. Other baked goods are from Screaming Carrot. Although not (yet) fully organic, the products are certainly locally produced, as the bakery is literally on the next street (0.2 food miles)!
Stop Press (April'08): Screaming Carrot are now supplying hand-made breads, baked in-house using organic ingredients, sourced as locally as is available, from Green's Mill, Shipton Mill, in Gloucestershire or Dove's Farm in Berkshire.

Other foods that we sell are supplied by Lembas, the Sheffield-based wholefood wholesaler for the region. Their entire range is gm-free and vegetarian, and they encourage the use of organic produce where available.
Vegetables are supplied by L&M Stores, based in the heart of our local community. Though not organic they couldn't be fresher or more locally sourced. Subject to availability, organic produce can be obtained from Eden Farms, an organic farm at Spilsby, Lincs, where most items are grown on their own farm. Details of other suppliers of locally and/or organically grown foods is available from the Food Initiatives Group. Details of suppliers throughout the UK is available from the Big Barn website.
If you (or we) have to go to a supermarket, then we concider the Co-op a better option than, for example A$da/Walmart and other corporate blots on the (green belt) landscape, like Tesco, if for no other reason than that the Co-op has a good policy on labelling products suitable fore vegans. The Co-op vegan products list is available as an html file or Word Document.
A small amount of produce, especially herbs, come from our own vegan organic urban demonstration garden at the Sumac Centre, supporting the ideals of the
Movement for Compassionate Living, to promote simple living and vegan self-reliance as a remedy to the exploitation of humans, animals and the Earth, with guidance from the Vegan Organic Network.
