Louth Vegan Fair

Louth Vegan Fair will be taking place for the first time on Sat 29th September 2018 at Louth Town Hall and will showcase a diverse range of plant based products and brands for you to browse throughout the day.

Veganism, as a sustainable way of life has become an unstoppable energy with especially huge growth in demand in the cruelty-free food market. The Number of Vegans in Britain has risen by 360% in the last 10 years and over a quarter (28%) of meat eating Brits have chosen to actively reduced or limited their meat consumption in the last few years.

Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the delicious food, fabulous stalls and positive atmosphere. A great day out for all so bring your family and friends. The Louth Vegan Fair will showcase everything from hot food to eat on the day to packaged goods to take away. As well as boasting a range of clothing and accessories, health and beauty products, crafts and lifestyle brands.

The event will be taking place in the historical Louth Town Hall across both The Ballroom and The Chamber room and doors will be open 10am – 4pm. Entry to the event will be £3 and accompanied children under 14 are free.

Festival 8 is a not for profit community organisation. The festival organising committee is made up of volunteers who are not paid for the management or organising of the festival. All funds raised by the festival are spent furthering the aims and objectives of the organisation.

To get to this event, 66 miles from our Sumac Centre base, Veggies may emit approx 60kg CO2.

However by helping an estimated 500 people Eat Vegan we will “offset” 1000 kg CO2.

If ONE customer goes Vegan For Life, they will save 1.5 tonnes CO2 every year, as well as saving 4022 animals lives, and enabling all the world’s peoples to receive a Fair Share of the world’s resources. [refs].

There have been FOUR deaths at Morton Hall in a year, the most recent being 38 year old Jamaican man Carlinton Spencer who died on 2nd October and on 19th November the death of 27 year old Iraqi Kurdish man Shadad Zraw Aziz.

Since 2000 the death toll of those who have died in immigration detention or shortly after release stands at 43. (Medical Justice) Morton Hall is run by the Prison Service for the Home Office and can detain 392 people. The Prisons Inspectors on 21 March reported on Morton Hall: “Nearly half the detainees told the inspectors they felt depressed or suicidal on arriving at Morton Hall.”

Twin Lakes Vegan Festival (cancelled)

We’re really sorry to inform you that this year the festival is cancelled. We hope to put it on in 2018. Huge apologies.

Twin Lakes will be holding a vegan festival July 22-23. There will be speeches, included speakers from GoVeganWorld; music, workshops, comedians, food, information stalls, camping and much more. All in a beautiful scenic area with 12 acres of land.

Shut Down Morton Hall Protest

There has been THREE deaths in recent weeks in Detention Centres. TWO of them at MORTON HALL. Since 2000, 29 people have died in Immigration Centres or shortly after release (source: Medical Justice).

Join us on Saturday 27th May with your banners and noise! We will surround Morton Hall,  demonstrate our solidarity with people detained there and demand to:

SHUT DOWN MORTON HALL – SHUT DOWN ALL DETENTION CENTRES!!

Lincoln Vegan Festival

Please note the date for Lincoln Vegan Festival has changed again due to a double booking! Final date is Saturday 15th April 2017 10 am – 4 pm. Sorry about that, but it won’t change again…promise!
