“Climate Change and Livestock Farming” slideshow by http://www.planetdiet.org/

Please support the campaign for a Nottingham Veggie Day

Which causes more greenhouse gas emissions,
rearing cattle or driving cars?

Surprise!

According to a ground-breaking report published by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the livestock sector generates more greenhouse gas emissions as measured in CO2 equivalent – 18 percent – than transport. It is also a major source of land and water degradation.

“It’s impossible to avoid the conclusion that the only sustainable and socially just option is for the inhabitants of of the rich world to become, like most of the earth’s people, broadly vegan.”
George Monbiot, journalist and environmentalist [article]

Climate Campaign events supported by Veggies Catering Campaign

At every event we attend Veggies provides information for action in support of campaigns to tackle climate change, as well as helping people take the easiest and most immediate step in reducing their personal climate footprint, by simply eating delicious vegan food!

To get to an event 10 miles from our Nottingham base Veggies will emit approx 12kg CO2.

However by helping each 100 people Eat Vegan up to 200kg CO2 can be saved.

If ONE customer (or climate campaigner) goes Vegan For Life, they could save 1.5 tonnes CO2 every year, as well as saving 4022 animals lives, and helping all the world’s peoples to receive a Fair Share of the world’s resources. [ refs ]
