We have recently submitted our ethical policy review to the Glastonbury Green Trading Standards team. We have been shortlisted in the Green Trading Standards scheme at previous Glastonburys and are 3-times winners of the ‘Best Vegan Caterer’ Awards.
Many consider Veggies to be one of the most ethical caterers on the circuit, with policies developed from 25 years experience in organic / fair trade / pure vegetarian catering.
Veggies is volunteer-led, a community-based, social enterprise. We have been promoting vegan catering and supporting campaigns for animal rights, environmental protection and social justice since 1984.
We have a policy of minimal packaging and promote the use of recycled goods. We investigate everything that we use to avoid animal products, those tested on animals and those from the result of human oppression, seeking guidance from the Ethical Consumer Magazine.
For over 25 years we have never stocked other than fair trade teas and coffees, which are also organic where available.
Veggies is a workers’ co-operative, though workers take minimum wages, preferring to live simply so that others might simply live. We receive welcome support from a team of dedicated volunteers.
As vegan campaigners at an event based on a dairy farm our outreach work is vital, but the chances of our ethical standards being accepted by the awards scheme may be slim.
