Devizes first ever Vegan Fair is coming to the Corn Exchange on March 24th 2019!
Our very special guest ‘Jay Wilding’, the star of the BAFTA award winning film, ’73 Cows’ will be opening the event at 10am.
‘EXPLORE PLANT BASED LIVING’ AT THE CORN EXCHANGE, DEVIZES!’
On Sunday 24th March, Devizes Corn Exchange will open its doors to the vegan fair.
The Vegan Fair will offer everyone the opportunity to explore ‘Plant based living’. From cheese to cakes, chocolate, and other treats, the event offers a delicious day out to enjoy guilt-free food, drink, clothes, cosmetics and culture. There will also be talks, workshops, activities for kids and nutritional advice and support.
In 2016, an independent report showed a rise in Veganism of 360% over 10 years. This figure is rapidly increasing due to the wealth of information available, helping people to understand and sustain a healthy alternative diet and way of life.
In the USA, a recent study has shown a 600% increase in people switching to plant based living over the past 3 years alone. This independent research has found that the majority making the switch to be under 40 (Or the millennial generation as quoted by ‘Forbes’)
The perceived health benefits of a vegan diet are thought to be driving the trend. Studies have found that vegans typically have lower levels of cholesterol and blood pressure, a lower body mass index, and reduced risk of death from heart disease and cancer. Environmental and welfare issues are also contributing to the swelling numbers turning away from food sourced from animals.
Jo Harrington, co-organiser said, ‘Having lived a plant based lifestyle, I have sometimes been challenged on my choice, but once people try some of the delicious vegan food available to eat and cook, they often realise this isn’t a sacrifice but rather a delicious, cruelty-free way to live your life. Do join us on Sunday 24th March, everyone is welcome.’
Organisers behind this event have launched other similar events attracting not only vegans, but those who want to explore plant based living. Whether you are vegan, vegetarian or a meat-eater, this event is open for all.
