***CANCELLED*** FFN’s Alternative Market Stall at Vegan Food Market

Sat 3rd March, 2018 @ 11:00 - 15:00

***Please note this event is now cancelled***

Frack Free Notts are running a stall at the Sneinton Market Vegan Food Market on Saturday 3rd March 2018, 11am-3pm.

Why are we running this stall?
Well…..

If you live in Notts, then YOUR county is under threat of being FRACKED!

Construction has already begun on 2 drilling sites – at Misson (DN10 6ES) and Tinker Lane, Bassetlaw (DN22 8PA), both in north Notts, with both fracking survey sites owned and operated by oil and gas company IGas.
It doesn’t stop there – Sherwood Forest and Clumber Park are next up in the Frackers’ crosshairs.

There is growing resistance across the county, with daily action by local protectors at both the Misson and Tinker Lane sites, but they need everyone’s help, so this is a call out to send aid to our neighbours.

Luckily, there’s an easy way you can help:

**Come down to Sneinton Market THIS SATURDAY to find out more about the current state of the fracking operations in Nottinghamshire – pick up some leaflets, munch on some lovely vegan treats and have a chat with one of our friendly FFN volunteers – and learn more about what you as an individual can do to protect your area from the devastation of fracking.**

We are also taking donations for the good folk at Misson Springs Protection Camp –
They’ve set up a camp near the village of Misson, to stand up to IGas and help defend the future of their village and the surrounding area.
Please see the list below for donations that are being accepted –

ITEMS CURRENTLY NEEDED:

BIG bottles of drinking water
Pallets

We accept donations on the day of the market, or for bulky items send a private message to Sue McBar (https://www.facebook.com/ForestFieldsSocialClub) to arrange a drop off.

They cannot take bedding or clothes at this time due to lack of storage space.
The list will be updated as time goes on and the needs of the camp changes.

In addition they need BOOTS ON THE GROUND AND PLENTY OF THEM!! Visitors to the IGas site gates are ALWAYS welcome, speak to a FFN volunteer at the Market or drop MSPC a line here:

WHAT’S HAPPENING AT MISSON?
IGas are attempting to drill 2 exploratory shale gas wells off the Springs Road in Misson, Nottinghamshire, with the long term goal of creating dozens of fracking wells across the countryside around Misson. Construction of the exploratory bore hole has begun, but progress is being slowed down by the protectors and other concerned locals.

HOW DOES THAT AFFECT ME?
If fracking goes ahead in Misson it could spell disaster for the rest of the county as it would be the first site to fall in a long list of Notts areas that fracking companies such as INEOS, IGas, and Third Energy are seeking access to – Notts sits on top of large tracts of shale rich land and many PEDL licenses have already been granted by the Oil and Gas Authority, including such precious spaces as underneath Sherwood Forest and the land around Clumber Park.

Fracking is linked to serious risks to public health, and affects communities that are adjacent to frack sites through issues such as groundwater contamination, falling house prices and threats to agriculture and wildlife, to name but a few.
