Standing Rock People’s Kitchen fundraiser
Sat 1st April, 2017 @ 19:00

People’s Kitchen at the Sumac Centre on Saturday 1st April will be a
fundraiser for Standing Rock.
Come along from 7pm for good food, good music, probably a short film,
and maybe some games! 245 Gladstone Street, Forest Fields. Food served
from 7pm until we run out.
The Oceti Sakowin Camp is a historic gathering of tribes, allies, and people from all walks of life standing in solidarity to halt the Dakota Access Pipeline.
Although the main protest camp was violently evicted at the end of
February, the Sioux tribes are persuing a legal case against the US
government and last week marched on Washington. The Water Protector
Legal Collective is also working to defend tribal members and activists
against criminal charges linked to their defense of their own land. We
will be raising money towards these causes, and in solidarity with all
efforts in defense of indigenous rights and against the fossil fuel
industry.
Please share this with anyone who might want to come along …
… and Stand with Standing Rock.
A delightful dish is cooked and served at the Sumac Cafe by a different volunteer team each Saturday. Food is served at 7pm until all gone. The Forest Fields Social Club Bar follows from 7.30.
Food at Sumac is vegan, so is suitable for all diets and all cultures (call to ensure gluten free or other special options).
People’s Kitchen provides a great opportunity for people wishing to show off their cooking skills (whether personally vegan or not) or for novice cooks seeking an opportunity to learn more. Please contact us for more details.
The Sumac Centre is home of Veggies Catering Campaign, so other vegan campaigners are often around for support and information.
