When They Call You a Terrorist – Black Lives Matter Book Launch

We are delighted to welcome Patrisse Khan-Cullors to Nottingham to discuss her illuminating memoir, ‘When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir’. She will be in conversation with members from Black Lives Matter UK.

BOOK SIGNING & INTERACTIVE ART EVENT

We will be having a Community Day event running in the Cafe Bar, this will give you a chance to pop in on your lunch break (or book the day off work!) to get a signed copy of Patrisse’s new book and take part in an interactive Black art event. This is a drop in event, you don’t have to book.

As part of an artists residency at Nottingham Contemporary Gallery artist Jacob V Joyce will provide a free interactive black history art workshop for those attending the event. The workshops would allow participants use projections of archival black power struggles from the UK and US and various inks to collectively trace images onto a fabric canvas.

In the evening, we will be hosting a talk by Patrisse about their book along with a great panel of Black Lives Matter activists from UK groups. We will be taking questions at this event too. This is one you don’t want to miss! Please BOOK IN for this event, using the Eventbrite link above.

BLACK LIVES MATTER MEMBERS ONLY MEETING

For Black Lives Matter – Black (diaspora) members only, there will also be a closed Chapter meeting from 4pm-6pm. This is invite only to current members and you have to confirm with us asap if you would like to be there.
