Minutes of Nottingham Green Festival meeting
4 pm March 8th, 2015 at Sumac.

Patrick chairing; minutes: Margret.

*Present*: John, Lynda, Margret, Mark, Moby, Ni, Patrick, Russell
*Apologies: Jeremy, Neale, Sally

*FINANCE*

– Margret reported that Nottingham WEN had agreed to write a cheque for £300 (waiting for new cheque book). This would result in the initial set-up costs of the Green Festival now being covered.

– Moby is awaiting feedback from various funding avenues, including ‘Marches Energy Agency’, T4 and V3. Her emails to V3 are being rejected as spam, so these need to be re-sent from another email address.

– Moby suggested approaching the “Near Neighbours Fund’, designed to forge links in communities. This is administered by the Anglican church – in our case, All Saints’. Moby will investigate.

– Ni (welcome, Ni!) suggested ‘Efficiency East Midlands’. They fund general green projects, and had helped set up the community gardens she is involved with. Ni to send contact details to Margret.

– Any donations can be sent to Nottingham Green Festival, 22 Kent Road, Nottingham NG3 6BE.

*Lush Charity Pot* application form being handled by Natalie. The information included on this could form the basis for other applications for funding.

– Funding avenues to be followed up, please:

Bob to follow up Ecotricity

Moby to follow up V3 and T4

Ian to follow up Co-Op Energy, Trades Council

– Crowd funding:

GoFundMe *Publicity*

Broadway’s Green Film Week is 3-10 May, so does not tie in chronologically with Green Festival, but we could ask them to carry publicity leaflets.

New Art Exchange also shows films, so they may be willing to do a tie-in, such as the new film based on Naomi Klein’s book.

Moby reported that NTU and Nottingham Energy Partnership would be willing to publicise Green Festival.
Lynda is liaising with Nottingham Contemporary – awaiting reply from Sara Manton.

Sally is designing a flyer/ card. Jeremy has costings from Pyramid printers. Veggies’ printers can produce self-adhesive (peel-off) A7 stickers at £21 per 1000.

*Media*

– Print media: Jan has contacted Jared at Left Lion, who are interested. Mark to follow up too.

John will write a press release for release to Nottingham Post and other media, including Nottingham Arrow.

– Radio: Moby said that Radio Kemet and Radio Dawn would be more promising than Radio Nottingham – these local stations would be more likely to read a press release carefully, formulate questions accordingly, and possibly run an appropriate interview.

– TV: The interest from Notts TV had run cold – this may be because it relies on student volunteers.

Mark will follow up Tania Brown, and invite to a meeting. If an interview materialises, the arboretum would be a good location.

*Social media*

Sally has set up a Facebook page, and would like help in administering it – are there any volunteers to do this? Minutes of these meetings could be put there.
