Year after year since 1991, a small but dedicated group has organised an annual celebration of sustainable living at the Nottingham Green Festival. Unfortunately the withdrawal of council funding due to ever tightening budgets from central government resulted in the cancellation of the 2014 event. However, in 2015 volunteers from the community were determined that the Green Festival must carry on and presented a bigger & better event than seen for many years.

Following another year’s break due to covid-19, the organising group promise another great fun, educational and entertaining day in 2021, where the whole family can find out about local environmentally friendly and ethical activity and try out products, all in the beautiful setting of the Nottingham Arboretum, Waverley Street, NG7 4HF, a couple of minutes from the Old Market Square.

The time and date being 12noon to 6pm on Sunday 12th of September, we should even hope to see the sun shining gloriously down upon the proceedings! The event will have many product, information and food stalls, kids’ activities, workshops, natural therapies and sustainable technologies, performers and entertainment throughout the park, live music from the bandstand and a new spoken word zone.

Environmental groups, community activists, craftspeople, green businesses, creative types, organisations striving for a better world, the dispossessed, refugees and good neighbours, capitalism’s enemies, urban farmers and organic gardeners, planners and dreamers – all should have a stall at the Green Festival!

Of course, funding to facilitate all these family-friendly activities will be needed, so donations are welcome. There is a fundraising page on the website, or see below. The Festival is pledged to go ahead regardless of funding, but the more money raised, the better the event will be.
