Vegstock – London’s first vegan music festival

London’s first vegan music festival is HERE!

A jam packed day of fantastic vegan bands, accompanied by delicious vegan food, and ethical clothes / jewellery stands.

VENUE: The Piano Works 113-117 Farringdon Rd, London EC1R 3BX

There are many fabulous vegan festivals around the UK but very few vegan music festivals, so Vegstock was born! The first Vegstock will take place Sunday 16th September, 2018 at the fab music venue The Piano Works in Farringdon, London. We have a full afternoon and evening of vegan bands lined up, alongside some great vegan food and clothing vendors. The event is in aid of Open Cages who are an organisation trying to make this a better and happier world for factory farmed animals.

The Official Animal Rights March 2018 | London

UNITE FOR THE ANIMALS!

The Official Animal Rights March is an annual march founded by UK animal rights organisation Surge. The march began in London in 2016 with 2,500 vegans and in 2017 the march doubled to 5,000 vegans marching in London for animal liberation. In 2018 we want to see THOUSANDS MORE vegans taking over the streets of London, demanding an end to all animal oppression.

In order to make this march bigger than ever before, we need your help. Invite your friends, tell every vegan you meet, this is the day that we unite, where we stand up, rise up and say no more, not in our name.

This march will be bigger, bolder, brighter and louder than any year prior. The future is vegan, but we must continue to speak out on behalf of the animals until the day that their suffering ends.

50 Years of Resistance – Conference & Exhibition

As part of the 50 Years of Resistance celebrations, there will be a conference and exhibition at Conway Hall in London.

In March 1968, the American Embassy in Grosvenor Square was the focus of a demonstration against the Vietnam War. The police response to it led to the formation of the Metropolitan Police’s undercover political unit, the Special Demonstration Squad.

When the SDS was formed they aimed to ‘shut down’ the movements they were spying on. But despite fifty years of disgusting police tactics, the movements for positive change are still here and growing, and have had many successes on the way which will be listed in this roll call.

The events planned for the week are in support of those campaigning for full exposure and effective action at the Undercover Policing Inquiry, and against police attempts to delay and undermine it.

We aim to encourage more groups to find out about the Inquiry and how they can get involved and support each other, and to unite the many different groups and organisations who have been victims of our police state because of their efforts to improve society.

Check back here for more details nearer the time.

Stop the Arms Fair defendant solidarity – court support

Stop the Arms Fair has had huge success this September, with hundreds of people taking action to block the set up to the DSEI arms fair. Over 100 people were arrested during the week of action, and we need your help to support them as they face charges.

Court Solidarity Demonstrations

Join us outside Stratford Magistrates Court to support the defendants at their plea hearings at the following times:

21-23rd February 2018
7-8th March 2018
11-12th April, 2018
18th April, 2018

**DID YOU WITNESS AN ARREST OR POLICE VIOLENCE AT THE STOP THE ARMS FAIR PROTESTS?**

WE NEED YOUR WITNESS STATEMENTS!

The sooner you can send in an account and any photos/video of arrests to Green and Black Cross (GBC), the better. Key information to include for a witness statement is:

– When, where, who
– What else was happening on site? E.g. was the road closed by
police, were other people/actions blocking the road?
– Any photos or videos of arrests or immediately before/after

You can find a witness statement template and some advice on drafting statements on the GBC website here:

https://greenandblackcross.org/guides/witness/

Please send all materials to gbclegal@riseup.net.
