Vegan Quarter at Leith Market

What is Vegan Quarter??!!

On the first Saturday of every month, Leith Market, Dock Place hosts the Vegan Quarter. The market has a vegan theme and we guarantee at least a quarter of the stalls are 100% vegan with other stalls offering vegan friendly options.

The Vegan Quarter is all about bringing veganism into the open – we don’t hide the vegan stalls at the back of the market, they’re right next to all our regular stalls.  With the abundance of independent vegan businesses flourishing in Scotland, the time has come for fresh vegan produce to step out of niche markets and into our local economies.

Come have stroll, get to know your local makers of all things vegan, and get your fresh produce shopping sorted all in one go. Let your friends know by sharing the event and pop it in your diary. Help us make veganism a part of everyday life and not just for meat-free Mondays

The vegan market ‘quarter’ may included these all-vegan stalls (Nov’17)

Considerit Chocolate
Cool Jerk Vegan Pies
FacePlant Foods
Fry’s Coconut Island Limited
Grumpy Food
The Herbivore Kitchen
Phantassie Organic Produce

And many more providing exciting vegan options, such as:

DEMO: From Scotland with Shame

Join us outside the Scottish Parliament to raise awareness about the Scottish-made currently being used against Yemeni civilians by Saudi Arabia

The UK has been supplying the Saudi-led coalition with Paveway IV missiles produced by arms manufacturer Raytheon at its factory in Glenrothes. These Scottish-made “smart-bombs” are being used in coalition attacks on Yemeni civilians that violate international humanitarian law and may amount to war crimes.

The same Raytheon bombs have also been used previously by the Israelis during assaults on Gaza.

Unlocking the Cage – Edinburgh Film Screening

Unlocking the Cage

From legendary wife-husband documentary team Chris Hegedus and D.A. Pennebaker (The War Room) comes this illuminating, suspenseful and deeply moving look at the unprecedented work of animal rights lawyer Steven Wise. After thirty years of struggling with ineffective animal welfare laws, Steve and his legal team make history by filing the first lawsuits that seek to transform an animal from a “thing” with no rights to a “person” with legal protections. At the centre of the tale are a variety of captive chimpanzees, whose cognitive complexity holds the key to his impassioned case.

 Chris Hegedus, D.A. Pennebaker
USA 2016

Rated 12A

The film is screening in Edinburgh at the Filmhouse, 15:40, 25 March 2017.

Vegfest Scotland

Scotland embraced a whole new world of healthy eating in 2015 with Europe’s prime vegan festival Vegfest arriving at SECC, Glasgow.

This 2 day vegan food festival returns in 2016 on 4th & 5th December.

For more details, or to book a stall or tickets, visit the website.

The 2015 event was part of The Only Way is Ethics – an eight day festival exploring, promoting and celebrating ethical choices affecting all aspects of living.

Million Voices Edinburgh

Welcome to Media On Taiji and a million voices.

The 1st December 2016 a huge global movement is happening outside the Japanese Embassies and other locations.

But this is a protest with a difference. We are joining with every animal/wildlife and environment organization around the globe.

They will come and stand united with us to fight for the dolphins and in return we will join them on their events to raise awareness for their cause.

Each organization can join us and promote their own cause wearing their t.shirts and passing out their leaflets.
